Attraction is all about getting as much traffic to your website, but it is more than just traffic it is also about getting the correct type of traffic to your website.  You want the traffic to be as targeted as you can so that you have a higher visitor to lead conversion rate.  We will go over some of the key things you need to do when you are working on this step in the Inbound Marketing lifecycle.

Having something that they want

With attraction, you can start before you start.  By that I mean you can implement great SEO habits that will be enforced by your CMS or Blogging platform.  Most modern platforms have several well made Search Engine Optimization tools that you should learn about and make sure are installed on your site.  This will allow your site to rank the best it possibly can on the various search engines because they will be able to scan your content better and your content will be more relevant to the audience you are looking to attract.  A part of what we do is helping to identify the words, phrases, and topics that will attract the most qualified leads to your site.  A big part of this is knowing the words and phrases that customers in your industry will use when they are searching for the products or services that you offer and making sure that the content on your website reflects that.

Content can come in the form of copy for your website, business blog, facebook page, and other social media accounts.  Google and the other search engines love to use fresh content, and having a blog that you publish on a regular basis is one of the best ways to give Google something to search.  Your blog is also a reflection of your company and atmosphere lending a personality and persona to your website that may not otherwise be present if you just had a clean cut product and service pages.  The other nice thing about having a regular blog post is that every blog post adds another page to your website.  Google likes to see websites that have a lot of indexed pages.  The more pages that are indexed, the faster you can expect to see yourself in search results.

Being at the Right Place at the Right Time

While on the topic of showing up in different places. You also need to be aware of how your links and posts are showing up on the different social media networks.  I would focus on 4 different networks on a minimum in order to ensure things are coming along nicely.  Most businesses focus on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube.  You should invest time where you can in order to generate quality content that people on these networks will find valuable.

A great method to help your attraction coming from social media sites is to include images or videos as a part of your posts to those sites.  Additionally, you should consider in using a URL shortening tool, I like bit.ly as it has just enough analytics for my needs, but there are many others that can help with this.  Another great tool for handling posts on social media sites is a service called HootSuite.  It allows you to manage multiple networks, pages, and accounts from a single interface that you can share with your teammates and also has quite a few useful analytics and scheduling metrics.

Consistency is Key

A key thing to remember is that Inbound Marketing is a continuous cycle.  You have to put energy into each step in an ongoing manner.  Making sure to budget time for each part of the process.  Investing in tools to help you schedule when posts go live, when they are shared, and what results you are seeing are all a great help to this step of the process.
