Many people will tell you that the design or the appearance is everything for your web-based startup company. Relatively this is very true, but here is one curious example; what happens if you give a homeless person a suit? You will notice changes in how other people will start treating him.

It’s strange how people can change opinions so quickly judging only by appearance! But what if this homeless man continues behaving in the same way he used to? Imagine a gentleman on the streets asking for money and mercy? It’s totally ridiculous and no one will take him seriously.

You might be asking yourselves why we brought you this example.

If you look around you, you will see a lot of people wearing masks, pretending to be someone they aren’t. It’s the same in the technology world folks, completely the same. How many times did you get disappointed at someone or some service that seemed like a perfect match for you?

Just imagine this scenario: One day logging in to your favorite social media platform and half of the features are not working! What would happen if you couldn’t apply filters to your photos on Instagram? You would be disappointed because you were used to being able to do it. The user experience is all that matters.

Please don’t get me wrong, the design plays an important role in giving a good first impression together with an interesting logo, warm colors and everything that goes with it, but the main thing that will make your users, visitors, and clients come back to your website is the user experience!

If the visitor or the user is not able to navigate easily through your content, instead of modern design he will experience sophisticated disappointment!

You should think in this direction: The brand is much bigger than the appearance of it!

If you think that user experience (UX) logic comes first before the design occurs when you are on the right path! Believe me, people will never forget how you made them feel. Here is another example: Follow your behavior, why do you have a favorite social network? Because you feel better there!

Let’s repeat: What’s the most important aspect of your web-based startup, the design or the UX?

UX. Without functionalities, a beautiful design will remain just that—a beautiful design. But if you master the UX plus you give it a special flavor, a simple and modern design, then you can “topple giants”! People are always looking for shortcuts, it’s in our nature and that’s why the most simplified services are growing faster today than the complex ones.

If you don’t implement this logic in the early stages of business development of your web-based startup company you will hold your idea’s success! It will become hostage to the design.

Don’t get me wrong, there are exceptions that apply to complex web-based services, but you should always, always tend to lower the complexity and bring them to perfection.

These tips also apply if you plan to upgrade or update your current web design. It’s ok to modernize it, but always think about how you can make the lives of people easier and instead just of a visual update provide an updated and better user experience. That will make the difference!

Before we finish the article we just want you to know this: No one is working to disrupt your industry, you are there to make the difference. You are the unpleasant surprise of the competition!
